Thermochron iButtons Currently in use by top universities throughout the United States including Cornell University, Fordham University, and the University of California, Thermochron temperature data loggers are rugged, easy to use, versatile, and inexpensive.  Our most popular model, the DS1921G, monitors temperatures in the -40ºC to +85ºC range, stores over 2000 time-stamped readings, and has a single piece price of only $20, with volume discounts available. A variety of other models are available, offering different temperature ranges, memory capacities, and optional humidity logging. Low Cost: Designed to be easy on budgets, Thermochron iButtons run about half the price of the nearest competitor.  This will help in the struggle to stretch your research dollars. Rugged: Each Thermochron is completely enclosed in a durable stainless-steel case. Versatile: Since they are resistant to environmental hazards such as dirt, moisture, and shock, Thermochrons can be used in a wide variety of applications.  One model, the DS1922L, is even rated for submersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 days. Unique & Customizable: Each Thermochron has a globally unique identification number which is both engraved onto the enclosure, and programmed into the device.  Each Thermochron can be programmed by you, to your own data logging specifications. Small Size: Each completely self-contained Thermochron is about the same physical size as a stack of five dimes. Reusable: Under normal conditions, Thermochrons will last for about 10 years, or 1 million data loggings, which ever comes first.  This will allow you to reuse the Thermochrons across multiple research projects. Accessories:  A complete line of accessories are available for use with the Thermochrons, including various mounting hardware, colored key fobs, and tagging options for easy identification. Established Acceptance: Thermochron iButtons have been utilized successfully in a growing number of published research projects, including: University of California, Davis Amber Wright, Ph.D. Candidate Field study on tropical lizards in the Caribbean.  Thermochron iButtons were enclosed within copper tubes to measure environmental temperatures. Davidson College Dr. Kristine L. Grayson and Dr. Michael E. Dorcas Field study on the seasonal temperature variations in the Painted Turtle.  Thermochron iButtons were attached to the turtle's shell (carapace), to monitor environmental temperatures. Sweet Briar College Dr. Linda Fink Field study to determine why Monarch Butterflies are so selective about their wintering sites in Mexico.  Thermochron iButtons where recessed into tree trunks to monitor environmental conditions over a period of several months.
